Mix of road and trail.
No major complaints though the area near the beginning was a bit congested. Liked that it had a lead cyclist, finish line tape and podium. I enjoyed this run and the options of food and drink available.
Beautiful run and a lovely beer
I thought the event was really well organised, thank you for putting it on I’ll definitely book for the next one!
Felt a bit rushed
Went on the ales and trails, got a better selection of beers, more food options, better medals. And after running 10k an actual pint! This felt a bit of a "let's cut as many costs as possible" dunno. 5/10 in my opinion.
Well organised event
This was a really well organised event, with a lovely route and plenty of marshals. Only thing I would change would be to get a pint at the end rather than just a half. Other brewery runs in the area offer this.
Great organisation and great route
Really fun run with lovely atmosphere
Great initial event
Superb event ...
Cons; didn't like the looped route, congested start/finish
Pros; loved the off tarmac sections, great medal and glass (goodbye wooden medals), great organisation/support/volunteers/photographs, lovely weather
Once the initial/minimal teething issues are sorted this will be an annual sell out
Fun race, great atmosphere
Absolutely loved this event. Lovely route, I enjoyed the mixed terrain. Really friendly marshals. Great atmosphere. We had a lovely time in the beer queue, debriefing and chatting to other runners. Please do it again next year, preferably with the same weather please!
Enjoyed the run, the weather made it! Nice flat off road course
Poor organisation from start to finish. Lack of basic information on the website, which changed daily a few days before. No bag drop (leaving bags on an unattended tarpaulin is not a bag drop) start and finish area too small. Water stations not organised, waiting for water. The free beer at the end was also a wait. Hopefully the feedback will improve this event as it has the potential to be very good!
Great Event
Great event
As mentioned in other reviews, could of done with an extra water station.
Fantastic day
Really great event, it was absolutely buzzing with everyone having a chat and encouraging each other before/after/during the run. A shame that the queue for drinks (beer or water) was so long, and a 2nd queue seemed to form just after 12.
Easy to fix for next time though, highly recommended
Good for a first event but a few issues that have already note regarding the start & finish, pre poured free beer ( like the Phantom Brewery run)
Water station needs to be set up ready with pre poured cups - we were waiting for cups and then to be filled
All the said it was a great day and good weather - thanks Ellie
Good fun, friendly and challenging 10k.
At least one other water station en route would have been helpful. The queues at the end for water and beer were not fun - I know you rely on volunteers but it was hard to know where to queue and the queues moved very slowly. Worth looking at for next time. But overall a very enjoyable event, and the food/drinks ensured we stayed and socialised, which was great.
Great inaugural event
Overall this was a great event, the course was great given the last minute changes. As others have noted there are some changes needed to the start/finish to give more space. More water at the end would have been good given the heat.
Really Enjoyable
Travelled from Essex to run with a friend, really enjoyed the event and day. I note some comments on the start time but this worked well for me and meant I could enjoy the burger and beer at lunch time - and what a burger that was, cracking, and the beer!
Water station could have been bigger (I note the sick note impact). Start/Finish line was cramped, not sure if this was linked to the route change or not. Wasn’t quite 10K either.
Medal collection / beer collection also cramped due to start / finish location.
Didn’t have to wait too long for a beer in top 100 finishers, but with close to 400 runners perhaps cans with boxes glasses might have been better.
Lovely medal and glass to take away.
Looking forward to next years event, will be back for it
A good event let down by the small start and finish area.
The finish area was a disaster. The area was too small for people to finish, then needed to queue for water and the free beer. No organised system. I gave up on the free beer queue, so did not get my free beer.
Also, the course was slightly short of 10k.
Point noted about finish area. Sorry you missed out....
Brilliant event! 100% would come back and bring friends
Really enjoyedthe variety of surfaces and scenery. Really enjoyed the kind of festivaly vibes at the end.
The only thing that could be better was the finish, not quite 10km on the watch (not the end of the world) but coming through the finish the Q to get the beer at the end wasn't particularly smooth and definitelycould have done with some cups of water to rehydrate. But minor. Loved it. Will come again if it's on. Think it would be really successful in the summer as a summer series with different brews at the end (Pink and Blue ones for us
Really enjoyed it. For a new course that had to be altered with a few days to go, it was great.
The organising team and marshals were excellent - friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging.
Assuming the 9km marker was in the correct place, I think the last km might have been 2-300m short...didn't have tech measuring it though.
The water station would have benefitted from being larger and with more helpers there.
You're aware that the finish line needs rethinking - race pace to zero immediately was hard, and the beer station didn't have to be right there.
The beer was great, though!
Well done to all and see you next time!
Interesting concept for an event
I felt that the concept of starting and finishing at a brewery was novel.
There were several amends to the event during the week prior. This was somewhat disconcerting
The postcode provided for the parking took me to a housing estate. May have been advisable to verify this before publishing. There was ample parking at the estate which could have been negotiated beforehand
Registration was very smooth and worked well.
Limited toilets but not a problem
The route was not the most interesting but adapted to the changes. Lots of happy marshals along the way. Waterstop management needs refining. Placed a tad close to the start. Long queue meant we didn’t stop for water on lap two
The finish was somewhat chaotic. As soon as we finished we merged into a disorganised queue for our free beer. Needless to say we didn’t bother to queue. Definitely would have benefited from different siting of either the finish or the bar.
Overall the event is a nice idea but it needs greater reflection on the end user experience. Be interesting to see how the event pans out going forward
Some fine tuning required
A great location leading to a fun finish with fab atmosphere. However, the start/finish area was too cramped. And there as no water ready for finishers at the end (or not when I got there anyway). The free beer was a great added bonus and motivator. But the queue was SO long. In future, the beer needs to pre-poured to speed things up. Great marshall presence - thank you. And a well marked route.
